Standard mechanical switches were designed for function, not experience. They're utilitarian by nature white or off-white plastic rectangles that blend into walls simply because there was never a reason for them to stand out. They collect dust in their gaps, wear out with repeated use, make clicking sounds that interrupt quiet spaces, and offer nothing beyond a simple on/off function.
For modern homes where interior design is a genuine priority and smart functionality is increasingly expected, the traditional switch is a relic that deserves to be replaced.
